Amrah is a track star turned reggae artist whose quest took 10 years to get to where he is today. Throughout these 10 years, he has gone through many obstacles that motivated him to be the best he could be at everything he did.
Amrah was born in Central Village, Jamaica better known as Suffera's Heights. Amrah struggles started early as he had to grow up quickly and become a man at the tender age of 15. At that time, his mother left Jamaica to the United States to make sure she could give him and his younger siblings the life they deserved. He was left in Jamaica to take care of his younger siblings. Although music was his first love, it had to take a back seat since he became a police detective for four years as well as a national police champion for three years. In addition, he also represented Jamaica worldwide in the 400 meters, eventually winning a gold medal at the Barrihentos Games in Cuba.
Amrah also values God since his grandmother raised him to put God first. Growing up, he was the lead singer in church, which prepared him to be a good vocalist and a better person at the same time. Music lives in his soul and it is the only thing that makes him whole besides his children. Amrah says, “He will do his music without fear and will achieve all of his goals to the best of his ability!”
The name “Amrah” came about from the first two letters of the nickname his mother gave him “Amol” and the first three letters of his name Raoul Anthony Harvey. Under his name, Amrah is signed with the independent label, Exodus Entertainment, where he released his first album “Against All Odds” in 2004. Three years later he came back strong with his second album “Too Fast.” He has performed from Massachusetts to New York but he hopes to go international reaching all continents, not only as a singer but also a songwriter. His biggest show to date will be August 1st in Hartford, Connecticut for the New England Music Festival with thousands of people. Fans can expect slow melodic music as well as dancehall reggae music.
Amrah is currently working on his fourth album, which he hopes to release some time next year. His dream is to make it as big as Bob Marley because that is the only way an individual can live on. He feels that he has the ability, drive, and motivation to make his presence felt around the world. Everyone keep your eyes and ears open for the next upcoming reggae star. You can hear his latest album on ITunes, “Amrah: Smiling King,” where he showcases his growth as an artist.

Monica Monet On The Road T Soul is not something we acquire. Soul is embedded into our very beings based on our surroundings and our experiences. And when that soul searches for release, it emerges in the essence of Monica Monet. Born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, a town infamous for its role in the Civil Rights movement, the soulful sounds of Monica Monet were influenced by such phenomenon that embodies life, love, heartache and rebirth. Ms Monet first resonated Soul at the tender age of ten, when she performed at the historical Mt. Zion Baptist Church in her home town. She went on to independently pen and produce her first album, So Sweet, in 1995. The album, which showcased Monica Monet’s sultry vocals, sold more than 500 copies in its first week. Moving to Atlanta in 1997, Monica signed a recording contract with Beyond Entertainment. Under nned second album entitled Season’s. After the release of this album, she decided to tacksonville, Florida. There she furthered her penmanship, transitioning from song writing to chroniiscoveries she made in her journey of life and mus
Monica Monet is a Jacksonville-based soul singer and spoken word artist. She performs the first Saturday of each month at Poppy Love Smoke, 112 E. Adams St. 5 local artists' albums people should hear (but likely haven't) 1. "Nappy Halo, Vol. 1," Monica Monet (that's me!): A fresh blend of neo-soul, hip-hop and spoken word. This album will melt away stress and put a smile on your face, so you won't even remember the hard day at work or school! It's an easy listen from beginning to end. 2. "Talk About It," Mr. Al Pete: You know, as women, we always wanna know guys' views about relationships. This hip-hop album takes you on a life journey of love, life and wanting something more - with just one woman! I love this album and the laid-back beats. It will have you pouring a glass of wine and taking notes. 3. "Rhythm and Poetry," The IGive: When you speak from the heart, how can you go wrong? The IGive talks about saving a community and bringing families back together. It's a lot of work saving the world one album at a time! You can't go wrong with this one. 4. "Jeramy Bailey," Jeramy Bailey: Bailey takes you on an experimental ride, with soft vocals that sound like Dove chocolate, rich and smooth! The future is looking good for Bailey. I just love his pop sound mixed with R&B, soul and a touch of an experimental mood. 5. "The Art of Plain English," Odd_Rod: It's not every day a spoken word artist is looked at like a superstar. With a shy but big smile, Odd_Rod will tell you his story of making it through a hard childhood and not giving up on life. He knows it's OK to be odd, because he sees the bigger picture: He's got lives to save! This album is a must-have. Heather Lovejoy The Times-Union
